BNI is not merely a membership program. It is a Leadership Program.
In BNI, we want business leaders and industry leaders. Members aspired to be the leader and expert within their industry. I believe that only by being specialists in their industry, that they will have a continuous source of referrals. Let me share a scenario: For example, Interior Designer A, who is a generalist who is able to provide drawings from commercial, residential, and industrial units may look promising as his services can cater to many types of requests. On the other hand, Interior Designer B, who is a specialist and award-winning designer that specialises in providing drawings of residential units and having vast experience in providing unique design in accordance to the needs of the house owners. If a house owner who is a good paymaster is looking for an interior designer for his retirement house, who do you think he may look for? A simple example will be, a medical general practitioner will always be charging less than a specialist. A specialist must have a good system that will enhance its visibility in the market. Everyone knows that we are someone who is able to handle more business and provide good services, and that is why we are being invited to BNI and given the opportunity to be part of the referral team. However, without tools in BNI, it will be difficult for us to be visible by others. I will suggest BNI members to start updating your GAINS profile in BNI Connect in order to get visible not only within your own chapter, but worldwide. Only by making ourselves visible, then we will have the chance to prove our credibility in the eyes of the public and the market. Hence, never join BNI just to be a member, be a leader in BNI. Never be a specialist without having a great tool to be visible. BNI will be a great tool to enhance visibility and credibility.
