Very often we apply stratagems in human diplomacy as well as business management. Stratagems may include taking action actively, or being in a passive state. A very useful stratagem which is applicable for businesses that are not able to operate during the movement restriction order due to nationwide lockdown will be "waiting".
Yes. Wait.
To wait at leisure while the enemy labors. Conserving the strength while it is not the time for the right battle.
There is a saying that "Waiting in ease for the opponents to get fatigued may be one of the ways for businesses that are not able to run as usual". The enemy in our today's situation may not be our competitor if the industry that we are in is not allowed to operate as usual.
The enemy that we are facing may be the circumstances and situation that we are in. The political and environmental influence being the external factor that stop our business from going on as usual.
During the great pause of our business, it is important for us to identify the income producing activities to be executed by our company until we have gained competitive edge. We will then strike once we have gained the competitive edge.
As the management or leader of the company, never take the great pause of our industry for granting. Even though deadlines may be extended, customers may be considerate in delay of the delivery, our mind has to be fast in thinking but be careful in the action.
Be observant and brainstorm on the situation and the market trend. If the situation is not right, conserve energy until we gain a competitive advantage. Be patient and use delay tactics to make counterparts tired to get a better deal out of negotiations. Take bold action during the appropriate time. Avoid being rash and never underestimate the opponent.
In short, it may be the time that we are slowed down, but take this opportunity to think deeply on how to achieve a competitive edge.
When will be the right time for us to strike?
What will be our strength?
What is the strategy to be implemented to make our business adapt to this Great Pause?
