I started to work in a company that was established for almost 20 years. I have seen how the leadership of the company have led the company to a profound result and development.
However, I trust that the leadership that I've experienced with is no longer the form of leadership that will still be workable in this era. The former kind of leadership way if by command and controlling the employee. Command and controlling is the industrial worker way but not now. I believe that the problem with command and controlling is that it does not guarantee that the person being controlled or commanded will do what you've asked. It is important to note that, "Command and Controlling" employee or staff is no longer the workable way.
We have to operate an organisation or a company with TRUST. Trust is the new way of leadership. Only when people are trusted, they will be inspired. When a person is trusted and being entrusted, they will give everything that they have! Inspiring your colleagues and workers come after trust. We have to be aware that now is the age of knowledge worker. The way of working is by way of trust, and no longer by fear, controlling or dominating.
Need to take note that the ways of work are through collaborating, partnership, teaming, innovating. Only by trusting each other within the community and organisation then these can be happened. Take for an example, an organisation might have people from different generation of working aged group, we have millennials that want to be led and wanting to be inspired, it is a different way of leading. Millennials and gen-z workmen are no longer prefer to work at a rigid working environment and hour. They often looking at being entrusted to complete their tasks without the need to abide to a non-flexible working schedule.
Trust operational leadership emphasises on how to work with people through trust. We are no longer "working on people", but "working through people". Working on people often spend more effort and getting more difficult nowadays. Working on people requires more command and control on the person, while working through people operates with trust and authorising the person to improvise with their capabilities and do often comes with their creativity. Only when trusting people, people will be willing to take risk for you, and you will be able to have creative and innovate results from the people.
A company with healthy growth experiences coordination, cooperation and followed by collaboration. Collaboration with employees, partners and other form of greater developments are built from the foundation of trust. Coordination operates with the lowest level of trust, while collaboration requires high level of trust.

As such, one important key of great leadership in the workplace now, is to operate with trust. The key of success much lies on how much you trust (authorise) your colleagues and community, and being entrusted shows how much you are accountable for your work.
