Find your Balance

It has been the worst period of many business owners during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. Many business owners had suffered the need of drastic change on their business model and strategies. Restaurant owners are no longer allowed to serve as many people as they can. People are buying things online. Spending power of the consumers are no longer the same as previous.

Business owners are changing their business models. Some are more conscious on the financial health of the company. Taking practical steps to reduce the company’s costs and overhead. I believe these are good signs and awareness, and necessary steps ought to be taken.

However, great business owners or leaders, MUST NOT change their Visions. The vision is the company's road map. It indicates what the company wants to become by setting a defined direction for the company's growth.

Instead of changing the Vision, balance between your vision and the current position of your business.

Don’t find balance; find “YOUR" balance.

Look for the balance of your vision and your company.

We don’t live in other people’s lives, we don’t live in other people’s bodies, and what works for one person may not work for another.

We do not measure our company’s achievement with others. What’s more crucial is to determine where is our company situated and how far are we from our target.

Some business owners (who used to have a dream to grow their businesses) had scaled down their businesses, just because they observed small businesses had "suffered lesser damage" during lockdown or the outbreak of COVID-19, and they use this example to justify the change of their vision, and diverting the company from the earlier vision.

We have to learn to think, “these pants don’t’ fit me, instead of I can’t fit into these pants". There is nothing wrong with my body.

There is nothing wrong with our vision. The result only shows that the current business strategy doesn’t match the market. We can still FIT into another strategy. There is nothing wrong with our vision!

It is OK to have fear. Outbreak of pandemic really traumatized many people. Including me! Nonetheless, how long are we going to hold on this fear?

View these painful experiences as opportunities to learn and grow. Look at it, learn from it, and let go. Let go these Fear-based thoughts that can incapacitate us. “FEAR” stands for “False Evidence Appearing Real”. Look at this experience of pandemic outbreak, learn from it and thank this “fear” for the lessons it has taught you, and release it. If we are calmer, we will be less stressed and able to make better decisions. Learn from this experience and find “your” balance in it without changing your vision.
